Wales’ premier celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for students and young people is back with a bang! The biggest single free event of its kind in Wales moves to The Liberty Stadium in Swansea for 2012.
For the third year running, The Big Bang Cymru 2012, one of twelve Big Bang Near Me fairs that take place across the UK, is being hosted by Careers Wales in association with Technocamps and e-skills.
It’s expected to attract hundreds of pupils from every corner of Wales who will take part in interactive STEM workshops, exhibits, exciting shows and demonstrations. It will also see pupils competing for the regional heats of the National Science and Engineering Competition as well as the CREST Awards.
On 28th June 2012, The Liberty Stadium will be teeming with hundreds of young people, their teachers, parents or guardians - all of them ready to be wowed by Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and to understand the importance of studying these subjects into education and beyond, into the world of work.
The theme of The Big Bang Cymru 2012 is ‘The Future Digital Generation’. STEM subjects and technology in particular, have been identified as a priority to ensure the country has the skills to support the development of a vibrant and sustainable knowledge-based economy.
TV presenter Gareth Jones, who appeared in the hit children’s science show ‘How 2’, will be hosting and reporting on the event throughout the day, interviewing and filming young people and their projects.
The Big Bang Cymru 2012 brings together the Welsh Government, primary, secondary, further and higher education, industry and the wider science, technology and engineering communities. Together we can help provide the platform to inspire young people to follow a rewarding career in these fields.
