The Big Bang Fair 2016 joins forces with the Education Show
The Big Bang Fair 2016 has announced a partnership with the Education Show.
According to the National STEM Centre, STEM graduates have the potential to earn amongst the highest salaries of all new recruits, yet STEM skilled staff remain at a premium. The Big Bang Fair and the Education Show aim to address this by working together to inspire students and teachers.
The Big Bang Fair is an award-winning event that combines interactive workshops, theatre shows and careers information, while the Education Show, as the UK’s largest source of free, peer-led professional development, brings thousands of teachers together to share best classroom practice. The partnership will see the two events work together to help inspire the next generation of STEM experts.
Anita Pal, event director at i2i Events Group says: “With the continued importance of STEM subjects a key theme for the Education Show 2016, partnering with The Big Bang Fair was an obvious choice for us. The Fair is inspiring, creative and fun, which is exactly how we want to portray the teaching and learning of the STEM subjects. We’re really excited to be collaborating with the team at The Big Bang Fair to offer more support and guidance in this area than ever before.”
Commenting on the partnership, Camilla Barker, head of The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair, adds: “We’re thrilled to be working with the Education Show 2016 to highlight the importance of STEM subjects. Together, we will be showing young people what the science and maths they learn in the classroom can mean in real life, through a host of interactive activities, workshops and careers information and resources. The hands-on learning and exciting theatre shows provide visitors with an engaging insight into how science and maths are used in the world around us, inspiring students and teachers alike.”
Despite a slight rise in students pursuing STEM subjects, the numbers are not increasing fast enough - the number of graduates and apprentices entering the engineering sector needs to double to meet employer demand.
