Tuesday 1st July
South of England Showground,
Age range for the event: KS 2-5 (ages 9-19)
The Big Bang Fair South East returns in 2014 – an exciting, interactive engineering and science event that’s bigger and louder than ever before. Part of a nationwide programme, the Big Bang celebrates and raises the profile of young people’s achievements in science and engineering.
An estimated 4,000 9-19 year olds and their teachers from across the region are expected to attend The Big Bang Fair South East and enjoy a day of exciting and fun-filled shows, interactive displays and hands-on workshops all aimed at inspiring them to consider the varied opportunities and careers that studying STEM subjects can open up to them.
The list of shows, workshops and activities on offer is growing every day. Check out the current activities here.
STEM Clubs or other enthusiastic students can bring along and showcase the great projects they’ve been working on. They can talk to STEM professionals from industry and academia about their work and enter a variety of competitions, including the regional heats of the National Science + Engineering Competition (NSEC).
As well as NSEC, students will also be able to enter the South East Young Scientist(s) and Young Engineer(s) of the Year, CREST, Young Engineers, STEM Club of the Year and approximately 12 subject-specific (eg. Physics, maths) or skills-related (eg. Communication, innovation) prizes. These are generously donated by local employers, and will be confirmed closer to the event. For more information on NSEC and how to enter, please click here.
Want to contribute your skills, enthusiasm or time? We are also looking for volunteers and you can find out more about the roles available here.
