Volunteering: Evaluation Assistants

One-line description:
Helping carry out research interviews with visitors as part of the evaluation of The Big Bang during the three days of the event.
 

2011 Escalator Minimum requirements:
STEM background at 16+ level OR some experience working with children and young people. An interest in market research or evaluation would be ideal.  Portable CRB check preferable but not essential.

The most important factor is somebody diligent who will be confident and friendly whilst approaching members of the public to ask them to participate in the surveys.

NB: It would be a huge help to us if volunteers had an iPhone or iPad they would be happy to use. We are looking into alternative arrangements.

(STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths)
 

Minimum time commitment:
A single shift on one day of The Fair, preferably one shift each day.

Morning shift 7am – 2pm; afternoon shift 12pm – 6pm
(times include the compulsory briefing).
 

Preparation required:
Compulsory: review of all general volunteer briefing, health & safety, and logistics documentation.

Compulsory: review of evaluation process, evaluation tool (questionnaire etc.), discussion with evaluation team.

Suggested: review of floorplan, activity schedules, workshop and auditorium show timetables.

Other notes
All the above-mentioned documents will be made available to registered volunteers in early 2012.

This role may require a group meeting (or phone call) prior to The Big Bang in order to discuss the structure of the project and your role within it. More details will be confirmed before Christmas.
