Entomology – the science of insects

Entomology is the study of insects and entomologists work in a wide range of scientific areas, including agriculture, conservation, evolutionary biology and medicine, to name but a few. Our exhibit will explore the insect world and routes into the field for young people. There will be live insect handling, scientific specimens under the microscopes and an opportunity to talk to entomologists about their work and the insects involved.

There will be a chance to learn about EntoSci18, the only UK conference about entomology for schools and colleges, which is a collaboration between the Royal Entomological Society and Harper Adams University. You can get a flavour of the conference by visiting our exhibit. You can also discover the nationwide programme of events taking place during National Insect Week 2018 (18-24 June). Our six legged friends look forward to meeting you!
